Plywood Honeycomb Panels
Plywood Honeycomb Core Panel is a new type of innovative 3 layers composite panel, with two plywood (wood) sheets as skins & an aluminium honeycomb core or PP Core.
Thick plywood panel is heavy, and panel might not be flat enough. We laminate thin plywood to honeycomb core (either aluminium core or PP core) to get a light weighted honeycomb panels to make it more convenient for handling.
The growing demand for wood panels in furniture, building and construction industries has driven wood consumption to unsustainable levels. To conserve the world’s forests, we must use wood more efficiently; sandwich panel constructions minimize the use of material resources and help reduce carbon footprint.
Characteristics
- Lightweight & strong. The honeycomb core is made from thin aluminium foil into hollow hexagonal structure, it’s very light weight but strong structure. A plywood honeycomb panel is much lighter than a plywood sheet in same thickness.
- Super flatness. Plywood surface is not very flat but with honeycomb structure it’s firmly fixed and such a honeycomb sandwich structure will hold the panel flat for long time.
- Much less chance of warpage than general plywood panel. Warpage is a common problem that could happen on plywood as it gets distorted when it absorbs moisture. Plywood honeycomb core panel only have two thin layers of plywood so much less wood veneer is used when comparing to solid plywood, thus there is less change for it to warp.
